Top 5 happy hours in Austin

Sharing is caring!

Updated May 2019!

We love a good meal as much as we love a good deal. Dining at happy hour is a fantastic way to try out a new restaurant at a fraction of the price. We partnered with Studio 512 to share our thoughts. We took into account value along with food quality. Additionally, we picked a variety of cuisines, formal/informal options, family friendly, and differing locations for this list. You should be able to find the happy hour that is right for you. Check out our segment in the video below (click here to get the recipe for our heirloom tomato, peach, and burrata appetizer)!

Here are our top happy hours in Austin:

(As menus and specials often change, be sure click on each restaurant listed to visit their website for specific pricing).

Uchiko – One of the best bargains for upscale dining in the city. Insider tip, be sure to arrive right at 5pm for the start of happy hour if you want to get in. This spot is in such high demand that if you are late, you will likely miss out on a seat. Enjoy their gourmet sushi and upscale Japanese street food for roughly half off. We love the $3 sake and their happy hour menu even features a dessert!

June’s All Day – HALF OFF the entire food menu is the ultimate happy hour, in our opinion. How can it get better? By also serving up half priced bottles of bubbles. It’s our neighborhood happy hour spot. Take in the sights of South Congress on their cute little balcony or put on some tunes at the jukebox inside. You can’t go wrong with their fries and their crispy chicken sandwich. Their chicken caldo soup is also a favorite of ours. June’s is part of the McGuire Mooreman Hospitality Group, all of their restaurants have pretty great happy hour specials.

Better Half Coffee & Cocktails – A new favorite Austin happy hour of ours! There are a few reasons why Better Half is incredible. First, they have a broad happy hour of 3-6pm Tuesday to Friday. It’s sometimes rare to find a decent happy hour on Fridays. The fun doesn’t stop there, as they feature a REVERSE happy hour starting at 9pm even on the weekends! Secondly, the burger on the happy hour menu is flippin’ amazing. The buns are fresh baked, the meat is so juicy, and the sauce on the burger has a little bit of heat. Maybe it’s horseradish, maybe it’s spicy mustard? Finally, the patio is large and lined with huge live oak trees, plus it is dog friendly. How could you go wrong?

Red Ash Italia – This was our favorite new restaurant opening of 2016. The pasta is fresh made and dishes are cooked over red ashes on a see-it-to-believe-it grill. The happy hour plates are the almost the same size as dinner service and are a steal in comparison. We recommend ordering the clams (order the bread to sop up all that good sauce), the light-as-a-pillow gnocchi, and any of their pasta.

Easy Tiger – This is the place to go if you are looking for a group happy hour, as the communal tables can fit a lot of people. We love the patio overlooking Waller Creek and the outdoor ping pong tables. Their sausages are more than half off and you can get your hands on $3 old fashioned cocktails. It’s the cheapest one we have found anywhere in Austin. While your there, be sure to order their pastrami sandwich. Although it’s not on happy hour, it’s worth every penny.

There are so many fantastic steals around Austin for happy hour, it was tough narrowing down our list to just five. What are your favorite happy hour spots around town??

That is one of our favorite burgers in town too! Can’t beat the half off happy hour menu at Jeffrey’s and June’s!
